1. Breed pure bred dogs of such conformation, soundness, and temperament as to conform as closely as possible to the approved standard for that breed. My breeding will be planned to aim for improvement in overall quality by the selection of good features and elimination of faults.
2. Maintain the highest possible standards of health and care for my dogs; cleanliness in housing facilities, and immunization programs which meet state and local requirements.
3. Refuse to deal knowingly with unethical dog breeders, retailers, and dog wholesalers and refuse to deal with any buyer when there is reason to believe that adequate facilities are not available for the dog, or that the dog will not receive proper care.
4. Maintain and pass onto the buyers of puppies or adult dogs the following records: health, breeding, AKC or foreign registration papers and pedigrees.
5. Use the AKC limited registration or withhold registration certificate, by written agreement between the breeder and the buyer in accordance with AKC regulations when the puppy or adult dog for sale has known hereditary defects of such a nature as to make his or her use for breeding detrimental to the furtherance of that breed.
6. Issue a sales and stud contract commonly accepted as legal, binding and in the best interest of all parties.
7. Not place a puppy under seven weeks of age in a new house.
8. Not breed to any unregistered dog.
